Let’s talk self-help books for women!
I am an avid reader and love reading about personal development. I mean, when I say I read a LOT, I average about 1 book a week! So, I feel like I’m pretty qualified to give you some good recommendations.
There are so many to choose from out there and could it be overwhelming to some of you, especially if you’re new to the personal development space.
That’s why I wanted to create a list of my top 5 personal development and self help books, specifically for women.
Self Help Books for Women
1. You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay.
I love this book so much, I even discussed it in one of my podcast episodes, Become Body Aware. Louise helps you see how your physical health is impacted by your mind. She also teaches you how to change your mindset to heal. It’s very powerful when you realize you can change things and help yourself just by changing your mindset.
2. The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks.
Have you ever noticed that so many people that are on the edge of a huge breakthrough, whether that be with a career, a relationship, or self-discovery, will somehow find a way to sabotage it? This book will not only teach you how you’re self-sabotaging but WHY you’re doing it. Once you have this awareness, it will change your life.
3. The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown.
For any skeptics out there that need research-based science to back up findings, this book is for you. Brené loves to observe human behavior to identify what makes people genuinely happy in life. Do you know what she discovered? The truly happy people have figured out a way to fully embrace who they are and love themselves. Do you struggle with this? If so, you are not alone… I find most people and women do…Then this is the book for you!
4. Mindset by Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D.
Have you ever heard the terms fixed mindset vs. growth mindset and wonder what that means? This book teaches you in a very direct and simple way how to understand the difference between the two. In order to grow, we need to develop a growth mindset. Staying in a fixed mindset will only keep you stuck. And no one wants to stay stuck!
5. Pussy by Regena Thomashauer.
This book is so powerful for women’s self-help because it directly reveals ways in which women are held back in society. The patriarchal society impacts women’s mindsets in such a big way. This book will teach you how to crack the confidence code and do more than you ever thought you could! For anyone that also has daughters growing up in this society, think about how it could impact their lives as well. I must-read for all women!
Do you have any books for women’s self help that you’d like to recommend? I’d love to hear about them!
Have you read any of these books? How did they impact your life? Hearing other people’s stories are such a great way to learn from one another. Please share your stories! I am always on the lookout for the best self-help books, for women especially.
